Vistosivitosi

Vistosi is one the premier Murano glass manufacturers with a long and distinguished past. The history of the Vistosi family has been tied to the glass art tradition of Murano since the XVIIth century, when the Venetian Zuane Geronimo Gazzabin became the owner of the furnace named "Al Bastian" in 1640. Two generations later, the Gazzabin surname was changed to Vistosi and in 1757, the family glasshouse obtained the right to imprint its seal in the prestigious "Golden Book". This expanded their business from Italy to all parts of Europe. After the fall of the thousand-year-old Venetian Republic and with it the sharp decline of Venetian glass and the closing of many Murano furnaces, the last of Gerolamo Gazzabin's sons died in 1807. The Vistosi family closed its furnace and lost its position within the artistic glass elite of Murano. More than a century later in 1940, Gugliemo Vistosi opened a new glasshouse in Murano, which gained immediate success and revived the style and skill that had secured the family's position in the history of the lagoon. Today, Vistosi glass offers decorative lighting with the pureness of classic lines and striking designs of the modernity. It is a new collection of artistic creations where each piece is numbered and a taste for details and elegance enhance the magic of hand blown glass.
